Think I’m probably done with Record Store Day. It’s not the queuing I specifically object to – even if the herberts in front of me did admit that they hadn’t visited a record shop since the last RSD. It’s not even watching as the record store in question starts to tweet its sold-out news – messages that spookily correspond to the sudden upsurge in the limited edition vinyl listings on eBay. No; the item that really riles is that the pressings are in such small quantities, disappointment is practically guaranteed; after waiting in line for 2+ hours, I imagine my expression was that of the “I’ve just lost my puppy” variety as I started going through my list, only to be told that every single item I was after had already sold out. Next year: I’m gonna stay in bed.
Today’s review of a random track found on Soundcloud – selected by borrowing a phrase from whatever gibberish happens to be at the summit of my Twitter timeline when typing hour rolls around – nearly didn’t happen, considering the incessant RSD chatter hogging my timeline. Still, I do like the concept of programming chops, even if that’s an area I’m also lacking in. Whacking ‘Python’ into the Soundcloud search engine gave me this: DJ Python’s Hardcore remix of ‘Higher’, by The Saturdays. Which sounds like being trapped in an elevator during an electrical storm, and for company there’s some hyperactive children and a smelly man with his beard on fire.
