Dumb Flesh – the new album from Benjamin “Blanck Mass” Power. Yes – he of the Fuck Buttons day job. It sure is something. I described his debut, self-titled LP as “What it feels like to be in a decaying orbit around Neptune, drunk”. And whilst less reliant upon the tropes behind drone, the new record is an acerbic gravity well of mutilated immediacy; the type of experience to be featuring in LGM’s Albums of the Year piece.
And in the meantime: I’ll let you win a copy. Double clear vinyl. With mix CD. Download code. Will probably wake you up in the morning with a cup of tea and a bat up the nightdress, too. All you need to do is to email firstname.lastname@example.org with some sort of “Why I deserve to win that record you’re giving away” rant. 100 words maximum, so you won’t have to try that hard. And if the subject matter doesn’t grab you, send me a recipe or stream of consciousness instead. Or describe the cover art. Competition closes on Saturday May 30. Winner will be decided arbitrarily, and I’m open to bribes – entertain me. Good luck!
